Creating Spaces for All

Holos Communities, formerly Clifford Beers Housing, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating spaces for all Angelenos to lead fuller lives. We develop affordable, sustainable, and integrated housing and commercial spaces for individuals, families, and businesses across Southern California.

Communities

In our 15-year history we have built an award-winning portfolio of a dozen properties with over 500 apartment units currently in operation. We have a robust pipeline of new developments that will add an additional 450 units in communities across Los Angeles County in the coming years.

Innovation

We believe that the housing crisis is critically linked to efforts to mitigate the impacts of global warming and decades of systemic racial inequity. For too long we have attempted to resolve these issues through disparate strategies and mutually exclusive solutions when they require a holistic approach to development. We need to build faster and smarter to create healthy and equitable neighborhoods where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. That is why we are working to develop new financial tools, construction typologies and sustainable approaches to inform our holistic development process.

Impact

The cost of housing affects all Angelenos; from those experiencing homelessness to families fearing displacement from rising rents or business owners struggling to retain employees. With every community we develop, we house individuals and families, create jobs, provide security for small businesses, increase our climate resiliency and save taxpayer dollars. Although the challenges we face are great and the numbers can be overwhelming, we are in it for the long haul and believe it is important to acknowledge and celebrate the progress that we make.

How to Get Involved

Join us in the fight to house the houseless and mitigate the impacts of climate change and racial inequity. Whether you are able to donate to support our mission, would like to learn about investing in affordable housing, or have land on which you’d like to develop, we’d like to hear from you. The challenges we face are great, but we can do more together.
